Description

A William Blackburn bamboo fly rod, 8’3″, 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. Hollow built. Serial number #3716. The rod weighs 4.2 oz. Fast DF action. Mint condition. Tan color cane with a two opposed node pattern set in a spiral. The main wraps are light brown with small black edges at the keeper and ferrules. The stripping guide is oxidized and the snake guides are bronzed. The varnish coat is very good although there are traces of white rubbing compound under all the guides and on the reel seat. The step ferrules are oxidized jet black. The grip is 5 3/4″ long and turned to a very blunt cigar similar to a Garrison. The cap and ring seat are oxidized with no die stamp or engraving. The wood spacer is mortised and highly figured, possibly cherry root burl or maple. The rod packs into a tan-colored cloth bog and a black crackle paint tube with brass hardware.
