Thomas and Thomas Hendrickson Fly Rod 8’6 3/2 #6

Description

A Thomas and Thomas Hendrickson bamboo fly rod, 8’6″, 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #6. Serial # 2964. The original owner’s name and manufacture date of 1977 are inked on the rod. It weighs 5.3 ounces on my scale. Impregnated cane. Used condition with some grip tanning, cracks from casting at the ferrule wraps, minor wear to the interior of the snake guides, and some minor corrosion to the uplock aluminum screw lock reel seat. The action is on the faster side of medium. Darker oven tempered cane, done in a 3-up node pattern. Carbide stripper and black snake guides. The main wraps are honey lemon with a red edge at the keeper then black at the keeper, ferrules, and top tips, and brown at the ferrules. The collared swiss ferrules retain 98% of the original oxidation on the butt female and all the males. The mid female retains about 80% oxidation. The keeper wrap has a few strands of the honey lemon that had started to come loose and were varnished down. The grip is 6 1/4″ long and styled to a western with a hidden pocket cap. The screwlock seat wood is walnut. The screw lock slide is stamped “Thomas & Thomas, Makers”. The rod comes in a polished aluminum tube with brass fittings. The owner has attached a brass eye hook to the tube top for hanging purposes.
