The Tassie Devil Nymph has gained popularity after Lance Egan and Team USA had great success with it while preparing for the World Fly Fishing Championship in Tasmania. It has since become a staple in many flyfishers boxes the world over.

This jig nymph fly pattern has also proven itself as an excellent attractor nymph in tailwater fisheries here in the United States, especially very cold water, and as such delivers the goods in Australian most streams early in the season. It can be very productive simply as a nymph alone under an indicator,as a trailer nymph following a streamer or as a dropper nymph under a fry fly pattern.
