Description
My Pheasant Tail Sparkle Dun is tied to accomplish one purpose: to catch big, selectively feeding trout on Yellowstone Countrys spring creeks and rivers. This pattern shines when trout are feeding on fully developed duns with upright wings as the PT Sparkle Dun imitates this life stage so well.
I use pheasant tail fibers more than standard dubbings to imitate the bodies of these deadly dry fly patterns. The frilly nature of pheasant tail barbules trap air bubbles and naturally sparkle, closely imitating that of natural mayflies. The thorax is designed and imitated by dubbing blends to closely imitate the color of natural insects escaping their nymphal or pupal shucks. This incredibly effective pattern will work for catching the most selectively feeding trout on the planet!
