Description
The Nautilus GTS fly reel, the replacement for the NV-G series, is impressively lightweight and offers an easy left-hand to right-hand conversion. It has an expanded drag adjustment range, and the sleekest design of any reel Nautlius reel yet made.
The GTS introduces a number of well considered details, including a spool release cap which is a 15/16 (24 mm) hex shape. This is the same size as a lug nut on a car, so if it ever gets stuck, you can remove it with a standard socket wrench. Nautilus also added external backing markers, with spools featuring two crossbars to indicate the optimal backing fill level for your line weight.
The drag, made up of multiple cork and carbon fiber surfaces, is exceptionally smooth with plenty of stopping power. As Nautilus explains, “the cork acts as an insulation and compression material to ensure a smooth drag transition while the carbon fiber delivers the market-leading overall smoothness that Nautilus Reels is known for.”
