Description

A very nice Murray Stewart model 300 salmon reel, 3 3/4″ diameter with an approximate 1 3/8″ spool width. Set up for LHW. It weighs 13.7 ounces on my scale. Mr. Stewart makes these bench-made reels out of Glasgow Scotland and they are done in the classic S-handle tradition with a Bogdan-inspired drag system. Near mint condition with just a few small traces of rash on the rims, though it is minor indeed. The reel could not have been fished much. Clear anodized aluminum frame and spool, the reel has a Bogdan style drag adjuster on the outside as well as an oil port cover, poacher’s knob, and Mr. Stewart’s name stamp. 2:1 multiplying retrieve. The knob on the end of the crank handle is moderately sculpted. The reel is designed to hold 350 yards of backing into balance with 13′, 14′, or 15′ foot two handed rods. The reel comes in a handsome leather case with “Stewart Reels” lightly marked on the lid edge.
