A nice Hardy Uniqua fly reel with the rare spitfire finish, 3 5/8″ diameter and currently set up for LHW, though I suspect it was a RHW originally. The reel is stamped with Jimmy Smith’s “JS” initials on the inside of the frame. The reel has the duplicated Mark II check stamping on the outside, but only a single check inside. Very fine overall condition with just a few bits of cosmetic wear but devoid of any major issues. Mechanically the reel is excellent and the spool is very tight (which can be rare with these models). Telephone style latch. Ribbed brass foot. The handle appears to be rare erinoid and spins well enough but could use a tiny touch of oil. The reel packs into a blue vinyl (non-original) Hardy pouch.
