Description
A George Maurer / Sweetwater “Rocky Mt. Special” model fly rod, 7’9″, 2-piece, 2-tips, and built for a #5 or #6 line. Serial #2002-02. The rod weighs 4.3 ounces on my scale. Semi full flexing action. Used but very good condition. Blonde cane done in a three up node pattern and a light coat of varnish. The main wraps are light brown with no edges. Black stripper and black snake guides with only moderate signs of wear. Casting cracks at the male ferrule wraps. The ferrules are oxidized Super Z style. The grip is 6 1/2″ long and turned to a medium cigar. The cap and ring seat are oxidized and the cap retains about 80-85% of the original oxidation. The spacer is a burl walnut. The rod packs into an eggshell cloth bag and a brushed aluminum tube with brass fixtures.
