A Don Schroeder bamboo fly rod, 8’3″, 3pc, 2-tip, and built for a #5 line. Serial #55414. The rod weighs 4.8 ounces on my scale. The rod looks to be possibly lawn cast at most. Medium action.Glossy coat of varnish over lightly flamed cane with nodes done in a two-opposed spiral pattern. Very dark brown (almost black) wraps with black nickel snake guides. The ferrules are oxidized and a semi-truncated Swiss style. The grip is 6″ long and shaped to a medium cigar profile with heat shrink plastic over the cork. The slide band seat is a very attractive mortised walnut with lots of curly banding. The oxidized nickel silver cap and ring hardware are generously proportioned and oxidized. The cap is stamped D.G. Schroeder Rod Co. The rod packs into a brown cloth bag with a stiffener. The aluminum tube is silver frost coated with brass hardware and Dons data sticker affixed to it.
