David Reid Fall Run Bamboo Fly Rod 12′ 3/2 #8/9

Description

A David Reid “Fall Run” bamboo fly rod, 12′, 3-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #8/9 line. Serial #135-0322. The rod weighs 11.6 ounces on my scale. Spliced joint construction. Lightly used condition with a few small scuffs in the varnish in a few places but well taken care of overall. Medium lightly flamed cane done in a three up node pattern, with some of the nodes having been very darkly flamed (especially the first set above the grip). Caramel colored wraps with black tipping throughout with a windway wrap just above the grip. Two agate stripping guides with chrome guides and tip tops. The top section of the grip is 16″ long with a steady taper to the top and with an abrupt flare made of composite cork (there is also a composite ring an inch below it). Bright commercial downlocking reel seat over a birch spacer. The bottom portion of the grip is 5″ long and has a similar cork composite flare with a composite ring an inch above it. The spliced joints each have a wood splice protector with a thick ribbon of twine for wrapping them on. The rod packs into a tan light canvas bag (the piping at the top portion is loose) and an aluminum tube with aluminum hardware and the makers’ stickers affixed to the side and the top cap.
