Description
CDC Feathers, or Cul-De-Canard, as you may hear them referred to, are some of the most widely-used feathers in fly tying. Theyre part of dozens of patterns, from nymphs to dry flies.
CDC feathers come from the preen gland area on a duck, and as such, theyre naturally water repellent. That makes them ideal for use on dry fly patterns, including:
- Emergers like the RS2
- Comparaduns
- Caddis
- Blue-Winged Olives
- Pale Morning Duns
These light, fluffy feathers also do a great job of imitating trapped air bubbles on nymphs and other early stages of aquatic insects.
CDC feathers are available in more than a dozen colours.
