Description
Feathersmith was born from the passion we have here atFeathersmith for fly fishing. We treat all of our flies as we would a piece of jewellery and look at each as a miniature work of art – it’s all about quality materials and attention to detail.
All of our Feathersmith kits include access to a full step-by-step tying video, along with associated information on:
- The fly patterns history
- How to best fish the finished fly
This third in our ‘Signature Series’ of kits celebrates a fly which is a staple on virtually every water in the UK – The Blue-Winged Olive.
This pattern is a development of the popular ‘spent’ variant, which is especially successful when fished during (and after) the fabled ‘evening rise’ – and also really productive when fished first thing in a morning.
This Blue-Winged Olive pattern is suitable for:
Target Species: Brown & Rainbow Trout
Water Types: Rivers & Stillwaters
Location: All Rivers & All Stillwaters
Tying Difficulty: Easy to Moderate
Our Blue-Winged Olive ‘Signature Series’ kit contains:
- Hook: AHREX FW501 Size 14
- Tail: Strung Cock Hackle Dun
- Body:Turkey Biot Light Olive
- Wings: Polly Yarn Shadow Grey
- Top Thorax: Dark Brown 2mm Foam
-
Thorax: Rabbit Mix Olive
- A Pre-Tied Blue-Winged Olive
Please Note: All our ‘Signature Series’ fly tying kits do not include any thread – each of the kits in the series only uses standard black 8/0 thread, which just about everyone already has – we didn’t want to add to the pile of thread you already have!
Contained inside each kit is a label which will direct you to a secret page on our website where all the tying video and extra information can be accessed.
With the help of some professional fly tyers, we’ve identified some really beautiful and unique fly patterns, gathered together all of the materials from world-class and well-respected manufacturers (like Whiting & Ahrex) and then created a kit which allows you to tie one specific pattern – 15 of each.
Here’s what’s included when you purchase one of our ‘Signature Series’ kits:
- A kit full of world-class materials – more than enough to tie all 15 flies in the kit
- Information detailing the history of the fly you are tying
- A video tutorial of how to tie the fly – presented by a professional fly tyer
- Information on how to use and fish the finished fly
The other piece of advice you will always hear is“It’s more expensive to tie your own flies than it is to buy them.” – not anymore it isn’t, our Feathersmith kits allow you to tie a stunning pattern with the very best materials available –all for a little more than 1 per fly– now that is great value.
