The Big Y General has undertaken a complete overhaul. We use the same proven 6061 T6 aluminum for the frame, spool, reel seat, and drag housing.
This ensures that a dropped reel won’t result in a broken reel ruining the rest of the day. A full caged frame adds durabilityand protection to the spool and frame, while keeping those pesky mono lines or ultra thin euro nymph lines from “hopping” out the frame.
Updated drag system: An updating housing cover makes the drag system as sealed as physically possible when you have moving components, keeping sand and saltwater out of the drag. The drags itself now offers a robust 6 disc system in the 5/6 and 7/8 models, while the 9/10 offers 7 discs. A combination of stainless steel, nano carbon, and cork/Teflon(heat dispersion) make them capable of putting the breaks on any fish you hook, while making micro adjustments throughout the day especially easy.
