Description

An R.L. Winston bamboo fly rod, 7’6″, 2-piece, 2-tip, and built for a #4 line. Serial number #2957. The rod weighs 3.3 ounces. Medium action. Near mint condition. Some of the dip varnish is worn out on the snake guides, but just barely, and the cork grip is nice and clean. Tan color oven-tempered cane with three up node pattern. The varnish quality is superb, as it always is with Winstons done in the Brackett period. The main wraps are an apricot-tan color with black edges at the keeper, ferrules, and tip tops. The stripper is an SRMC carbide and the snakes are chrome. The grip is 6″ long and shaped as a blunt weighted forward cigar with a slight tail at the bottom. The seat features a nickel silver slide band and pocket cap. The nickel silver bottom cap has “R.L. Winston Rod Co.” engraved in it. The rod packs into a white cloth bag and has the Winston logo embroidered on the flap. The aluminum tube is painted brown with brass hardware and the Winston data plate.
