These Tandem Hook Shanks are hand made in Australia by Ben from Ozzy Native Flies specifically to offer serious strength and foundation for gang hook style tandem flies. Similar to the original Tandem Hook Shanks, but specifically made for saltwater applications.

This innovative, custom shaped shank is a key component for tying double-hook articulated streamers, poppers, and sliders. Designed to size up perfectly with Gamakatsu SL12S hooks, these enable you to have two hooks aligned in tandem with just the right amount of clearance to ensure maximum movement from both hooks. But, it is not just movement these shanks are designed for. Strength is a key factor with the unique through-eye seating of the shank onto the front hook that means a rear hook hook-set will never come free, no matter how big the fish. This makes these an ideal shank for targeting big saltwater species, Murray Cod, and other Australian natives that really pack a punch.

The rear hook is tied first, then a thread layer is applied to the shank of the front fly. The shank is then fed through the eye of the rear hook to sit in the rear belly of the shank. The front bend of the shank is then fed through the eye of the front hook as it rests in the vise with the thread layer on it. The long arm is run along the top of the hook, with the short arm running along the underside of the hook. This is then covered in a thread wrap to hold the position and ensure the rear belly of the shank is aligned upright for maximum movement of the rear hook. Then, whilst not necessary, a coat of glue with ensure it never moves. Finally, its time to tie in the materials for the front half of the fly and go fish it with confidence.

Available in three sizes to suit 4/0, 6/0 and 8/0 SL12S hooks, these will also work well with other similar shaped J-hooks in similar sizes.
